Host Volunteer Opportunities

The Star of the North Meeting is always looking for motivated, dedicated volunteers to assist with coordinating the educational sessions during the meeting. We will be recruiting hosts from October through March (or until the positions are filled).  For more information on becoming a host at the Star of the North Meeting, please contact Shannan Cook at scook@mndental.org.

Speaker Host

As a speaker host, you will be assigned to “host” a speaker while they are presenting at the Star of the North Meeting. This is a very important role as you provide the first impression of Minnesota and hospitality of the Minnesota Dental Association.  It is also a unique opportunity to get to know an expert in your field and learn from them in a personal setting.

Duties include: making initial contact with the speaker and helping him/her arrange transportation to and from the airport; escort the speaker to breakfast/lunch in the VIP Hospitality Suite; introducing the speaker to the audience and making any announcements; be available throughout the day to assist the speaker with any needs; if available or desired, escort the speaker to any special events.  This position requires you to be available during the entire time the speaker is presenting (usually a 1 to 3 day commitment).

Benefits include: complimentary breakfast/lunch in the VIP Hospitality Suite; complimentary reserved parking on the day(s) you are hosting; and complimentary admission to all of the speaker’s lectures/workshops (includes CE credits).

Room Host

As a room host, you will be assigned to “host” a program room. This is a short-term commitment and will only require 3 or 4 hours of your time (depending on how many programs you wish to host). This is a great opportunity for a dentist or dental team member.

Duties include: arriving early at the program room (usually 45 minutes prior to start time); greeting attendees at the door (and making sure they have the proper tickets); assisting attendees in finding available seats; monitoring the room for any disruptions; and monitoring room temperature and audio/visual disruptions (contact a Scientific Session Committee member to resolve any problems). This position requires you to be available during the entire program and maintain a monitor position by the door.

Benefits include: complimentary breakfast and lunch in our VIP Hospitality Suite; complimentary reserved parking on the day(s) you are hosting; and complimentary admission to the lecture (includes CE credits).

*Sorry, non-member dentists are not eligible.
