Our Patients, Our Duty: The Dental Team’s Responsibility during a
- Larry J. Sangrik, D.D.S.
A most common concern of dentists is the question of what is legally expected of them (and their team) during a medical event. This helps dentists and dental teams appreciate how to take a comprehensive approach toward medical emergency preparedness and identify areas where their office might benefit from improvement. A self-assessment tool will be provided to gauge your level of competency.
Learning Objectives:
1) Understand why medical emergencies during dental treatment are believed to be increasing in frequency, intensity, and diversity.
2) Recognize what the public (and the courts) expect from a dental team during a medical crisis in the office.
3) Appreciate the legal principles that might make a dentist responsible for a medical event not originating from the dentist’s actions.
4) Grasp how seriously the public takes the issue of medical emergency preparedness by dental offices.
This program is sponsored by an unrestricted educational grant provided by Delta Dental.
