Perimenopause and menopause will affect over 50% of the population in the United States today; with approximately six million women reaching menopause daily – it affects us all. The aging female experiences hormonal changes that affect many bodily systems, including the gums and dentition. Menopausal signs and symptoms can range from annoying to debilitating, and questions abound about what to do about them. As healthcare professionals, we can offer insight to patients undergoing this change of life and offer strategies for better overall health. This course will bring understanding to the science behind the changes in the female body during this transition time. Attention will be paid to brain, bone and oral health, while offering strategies for prevention. Women will be empowered to manage their symptoms and make choices that work for them. Attendees will receive a workbook plus a copy of “Martinis and Menopause” to take home.
